Dr Obinna Onodugo graduated from the College of Medicine, University of Nigeria Nsukka in 1995 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree. His housemanship was at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospitals Enugu (1996) and National Youth Service at the Port Harcourt Children’s home (1997), He commenced the Residency training at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital Enugu in Internal Medicine by 1999, exiting the programme in 2006 with the Fellowship of the West African College of Physicians (FWACP), with sub-specialty training in Nephrology. He was appointed a consultant at the ESUT college of Medicine, Parklane, for a period of one year, before he got an appointment as a Lecturer 1 with the University of Nigeria Enugu Campus, and Honorary Consultant Physician to the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital Ituku-Ozalla, Enugu, both in 2007.He was promoted to Senior Lecturer, University of Nigeria Nsukka in 2010. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Administrators, and holds an MBA in Business Administration. He is very hard working and focused, holding numerous positions of trust: Acted on many occasions as the chairman, medical advisory council, (CMAC) UNTH, Ituku-Ozalla and sat in for the CMD UNTH Ituku-Ozalla, on many occasions before he became the CMAC. Past chairman of NMA Enugu State; Former chairman of UNTH hospital accreditation committee, which was tirelessly overseeing the continuous accreditation of the different clinical and non clinical units/departments of the hospital; Many other committee positions both at the college of medicine UNEC, and UNTH Ituku-Ozalla; Initiator and co-founder of Consortium for Advocacy and Research, CADRE; Executive member (Ex officio) of the Nigerian Association of Nephrologists, Member of the African Association of Nephrologists, and member International Society of Nephrologists; Patron of the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS), and staff adviser Medical Students Research and Humanitarian Society (MEDRHUS). He has numerous community service awards (stemming from many community-based activities, founding and chairing many youth groups).

Dr Onodugo has delivered numerous public health enlightenment seminars for villagers, so many schools, churches and media houses. He has attracted grants to the hospital, and to the Nephrology unit of the department of medicine, and has numerous publications in local and international journals. For the past 3 years, he has been working as the Chairman Medical Advisory Committee of UNTH and Director of Clinical Services in UNTH, Ituku-Ozalla.
Recently, he became the acting Chief Medical Director and member of the Board of UNTH Ituku-Ozalla.
